Kera Travellers: Frankie and Elena's seven days to Bermuda

Frankie and Elena Fontanez live in the United States. Frankie has ALS, the condition also known as MND, and the couple bought a Kera Travel with one trip in mind: a seven-day family cruise from New York to Bermuda.

Lots of families ask us what happens at check-in? For Frankie and Elena, this turned out to be the easiest part.

"There were no problems at all bringing the Kera on the ship," Elena told us. "Smooth sailing through check-in."

The Kera Travel went in the boot of the car to the port, and then on board as a carry-on. There were no special arrangements or paperwork and no second caregiver booked for the trip.

The biggest change for Frankie and Elena is what happened after the gangplank: the same device that handled transfers in the cabin is the one they now use for everyday transfers at home. They bought it for a holiday, but it became part of the household.

On the last day of the cruise, the family put together a short thank-you video for our team. It's the kind of message that reminds us why the Kera Travellers series exists. We love following along as families take their trip first and then sending back what they learned for the next family that is dreaming of a trip.

The Kera Travel weighs just 21kg and packs into a carry case for flights, cruises and road trips. If transfers are the thing standing between you and a trip of your dreams, get in touch.
